27 January 2009 ECCA responds to the State of Social Care report The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care homes, has commented on CSCI’s last report on the state of social care, which highlights the significant improvements that have been delivered in care services over the last five years. Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says: “The CSCI report shows that there have been great improvements in the quality of social care, but also identifies that there are significant challenges for commissioners and providers as we move towards personalisation”. Martin Green continues: “This will be the last report from CSCI and I want to put on record our appreciation of these reports, which are vital indicators of the state of social care. I also want to commend Dame Denise Platt, her Commissioners and Executive and thank them for the contribution they have made to raising the status of social care”. Ends Notes to Editors: - ECCA works to ensure that care services are commissioned fairly, efficiently and on a properly funded basis, to meet the true costs of providing appropriate care
