No Growth or Opportunity for Care Services The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care providers, has issued its response to the Chancellor’s Pre-Budget statement Securing the Recovery- Growth and opportunity. Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says: “The Chancellor has produced a pre-budget statement with a title that is totally at variance with the reality of its contents, particularly for the care sector. This statement is more about political positioning than addressing the serious economic problems of the nation.”
Martin Green continues: “For independent care sector providers the pre-budget report signals that the government is intent on protecting the statutory services at the expense of independent provision and putting dogma before need. What is required at times of economic crisis is clear emphasis on outcomes and value for money and sadly the Government has failed on both counts.” Notes to Editors:
