The English Community Care Association (ECCA) is the largest representative body for community care in England. Working on behalf of small, medium and large providers, it speaks with a single unified voice on behalf of its members and the sector. It seeks to create an environment in which providers can continue to deliver and develop the high quality care that communities require and deserve. In order to do this, ECCA embraces the challenges for the short, medium and long term.

The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care providers, has today outlined the implications of the Alzheimer’s Research Trust report on the numbers of people affected by dementia in the UK.

 

Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says:
“This report clearly highlights that we have a major challenge in the future if we are going to deliver high quality care to people with dementia.  The scale and nature of this challenge is enormous and we cannot wait until the issue has become a crisis before we act”.

The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care providers, has responded to the National Audit Office report on the Department of Health’s National Dementia Strategy.

 

Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says:
“The National Dementia Strategy sets out a five year plan on how to improve the quality of life and support for people living with dementia.  The National Audit Office’s report is somewhat premature and whilst we accept that there is a lot more to be done we believe the development of the strategy and the achievements so far represent a significant improvement in raising the profile of dementia services and giving some clear direction for the future of care and support.”

The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care providers, has today responded to the Queen’s Speech announcement that the Government will bring forward a Bill to give free personal care to those in critical need of care services.

 

Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says:
“It is important that the Government allocates enough money to make good this pledge, and if the new policy is in line with its strategy on personalisation this commitment to free personal care should also enable service users to choose domiciliary or residential care as their preferred option”.

No Growth or Opportunity for Care Services

 

The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care providers, has issued its response to the Chancellor’s Pre-Budget statement Securing the Recovery- Growth and opportunity.

 

Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says:
“The Chancellor has produced a pre-budget statement with a title that is totally at variance with the reality of its contents, particularly for the care sector. This statement is more about political positioning than addressing the serious economic problems of the nation.”

The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care providers, has endorsed the Alzheimer’s Society’s report Counting the Cost: Caring for people with dementia in hospital wards.

 

Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says:
“This report gives us a clear road map to improving hospital care for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.  One of the recommendations that clearly comes out of the report is better integration and communication between bits of the health and social care system”.
