Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says: “The Audit Commission’s report Is more interested in costs than care and seems to advocate for a one size fits all approach rather than acknowledging and understanding that services should be based on people’s needs”. The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care providers, yesterday launched a report supported by the Care Providers Alliance and the Department of Health which presents good examples of the way in which care providers are developing and delivering personalised care. Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says: “This report clearly shows that personalised care is about how a service is delivered and not where the service is delivered. Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says: “The National Dementia Strategy sets out a five year plan on how to improve the quality of life and support for people living with dementia. The National Audit Office’s report is somewhat premature and whilst we accept that there is a lot more to be done we believe the development of the strategy and the achievements so far represent a significant improvement in raising the profile of dementia services and giving some clear direction for the future of care and support.” |
